      There are plenty of ways to make more revenue that end up being unfair to those with more money.

      Ideally we'd go to a fair/flat tax sales tax as our means of revenue, but that won't happen (anytime soon... ever?).

      The pension tax is a way to get around having your income taxed.

      But the real question is how do you tax employer contributions?  I don't like the idea of taxing pensions when they're paid out, because that can overburden lower income retirees who depend on that for income, but there's no good way to fairly tax employer contributions on the front end.  It's easy for employee contributions, because you can just calculate taxable income before the contribution.
