It's not about being "scared off". If I got scared off easily, I wouldn't still be here. It's about portraying the conservative movement as a good thing. When you have a big bad apple in your display case, you toss it out, you don't let it sit there so it makes the whole area stink. Then when customers come by, they focus on the one bad apple and not all the good apples you're trying to sell.
