The guy was even next in line to run Chrysler until he had a falling out with Iacocca (which he later regretted...Iacocca dances around the issue in Chapter XIII in "Where have all the Leaders gone?" , but doesn't actually mention Lutz by name).

I probably missed a few other examples.

Did the Chevy Volt achieve the same success as those other examples? Of course not. Unless a breakthrough comes about in storage devices or a vehicle with the structural integrity of tin foil is deemed safe & legal by the federal government {shudder}, the tech isn't there yet, nor will it be for the foreseeable future.

You're gonna have an Edsel, Corvair or even Gremlin creep in there once in a while.
