As I see it, Scales, you seem to be advocating an auto-pilot type of system.  The Founding Fathers never intended such a thing; our ability to remain a free people depends on our virtue and vigilance as citizens.  Like it or not, that means that we will have to deal with an assortment of snakes, rats, and weasels, both in office and on the ballot; it's how we go about that process that's the important thing.
