      There were bitter political fights by various factions of The Founding Fathers in the 1780s and the 1790s over this idea (majority rule/democracy)--fights that would make today's stuff look pretty tame. Adams and Jefferson became bitter bitter enemies over this (essentially).

      I'm not advocating for any other thing in this particular article or its related blog other than the Founding Fathers were a vibrantly diverse groups of individuals with extreme views on all spectrums.

      That they overcame that and did manage to compromise and work together should be a lesson to all of us today--in particular the teaparty.
