      Maid - With all somewhat due respect, this makes no sense:
      "With all possible respect, this particular excuse is a well worn one. It says that something not good must be endorsed in order to obtain endorsement for that which is good."

      Now, if we voted to INCREASE our benefits, yes, you'd be right - that would be "not good".  
      If we voted to stop the benefit for all future legislators, that'd be moving in the right direction and not "bad" (not good).  We got about 3/5 of the current legislators on top of all future ones.
