Just think, if they were actually afraid, there would've been any unabated efforts to raise pension taxes, the Michigan Income Tax, allowing for the Detroit Income Tax, Detroit Utility Tax, Higher Waste Tipping Fees and Higher Medicaid Taxes...just to name a few.

They would've had more of an incentive to cut their budgets and live within their means just like everyone else has done here in Michigan.

Now look at what has happened?

They are looking at a surplus, on top of an earlier projected surplus right after Michigan republicans went on a tax hiking spree.

And what are politicians from either "party" prone to do when they have extra cash lying around?
