He says he has done nothing legally wrong and he invites the investigation. We'll see.  The more telling questions to me are these, all legal considerations aside...would he have granted these severance packages if they were being paid for from the assets of his own company rather than being footed by the taxpayers? and is there something irresistibly attractive about the prospect of essentially wining and dining the meteoric careers of friends and family while not actually having to be the one that picks up the tab?

At least the bankers and others on Wall Street have historically made silly and expensive mistakes at their own peril and with their own money--except, of course, in the age of bailouts and liberal fascism when even that most sacred of behavior modifiers is being compromised.
