      honestly - you and all of us are seeing and hearing these Pure Michigan ads IN MICHIGAN so voters will think politicians are crazy if they try reducing the funding for the ads.  that is the reason.  central planners spending our tax money to keep their jobs and make everyone think they are brilliant.  oh - and there are some businesses that will give plenty of anecdotal evidence that the ads are incredibly successful...but for 90+% of the businesses in Michigan - there's zero benefit.  and we don't "get more tax money back than spent" -- for if we did...we'd just spend our way out of deficits (instead of spending $10M - $30M on ads, we'd just spend $1B)
