      -- the plaintiff disclaimed any intent to release the other defendants.  The problem arises when the express language conflicts with intent, whether contemporaneous or ex post facto.  Decisions based on the express language caution people to be careful about the language.  Decisions based on a judge's psychic abilities as to intent mean there really is no rule, and parties cannot rely on their contracts.
