I cross posted this at MTTM as well.

The temporary nature is supposed to be offset by the lack of infrastructure expense (no having to build roads, services) for things like factories and other high volume employers.

    whatever, huh?

The property taxes and long term businesses that build up around such places do a wonderful job of paying for those.  Even when some abatement (though I think are generally not necessary if you have a predictable tax policy) occurs.

Long term growth is done by having a stable local government, a stable tax expectation, and as few regulations as are needed, to ensure machinery isn't chewing people up, or pollution isn't causing illness.  Forced unionization, forced wages, forced insurance, and any forced conditions in a voluntary environment ought not be a sought after goal for those who wish to have low unemployment numbers.

Government mis-serves the community when it attempts to apply a singular ideal as a cure for economic woes in a state that has traditionally had such wonderful manufacturing and employment diversity.
