    In searching thru some of the state employee benefits it is very apparent that they are way out of line with the private sector.  A DNR unit secretary with a high school education making $59K a year with benefits?  That is what I am talking about.  That does not square with what is being paid in the private sector.  And there are many of these employees who are going to retire with a primo pension and benefits at taxpayer expense.  And the other thing that irks me is the additonal wages paid in lieu of health insurance.  These are things that can be eliminated to bring down costs but the unions don't seem to want to help out in these areas.  One contract I saw for bus drivers who are mostly part time, 16 days paid vacation for 9 months of work for the 1st year worked.  It make my blood boil!
