    A guy up our way runs a local charter school.  He has happy teachers and happy kids.  I suspect the parents are pretty happy too.

    One of the 'secrets' they use is teaching the teachers how to identify which ways each student can learn best.  He says it might seem like its more work, but is actually time saving and efficient  because the kids learn faster and meet benchmarks sooner.

    Sounds intriguing.

    I have a scenario I am working on, where we could literally have one or two room schoolhouses again in neighborhoods that have failed systems like Detroit.  They could be cost effective and more responsive to the needs of the kids.

    MichWolverine, I have no reason to doubt your knowledge on the subject or you commitment to a solution, but you (along with anyone who wants to see WHY there is a problem in the first place), should really take a closer look at just whom you're dealing with regarding this problem.

    On Thursday Night, the local Fox Station had an in-depth segment relating the the DPS situation. Two of the guests were the current President of the DFT Keith Johnson along with a Detroit Teacher and DFT activist Steve Conn.

    The first portion of the clip is fairly bland and predictable.

    The later portion of the clip is very telling example of the mindset that is all-too prevalent within the DPS.
