Government too often works in a nearly opposite fashion with emotions being the primary motivator.  That is why our government continually chases "do something" solutions for problems that they likely created with emotionally driven legislation or rules to begin with, and why temporary problems that likely would correct themselves in a free market are not allowed to do so.
