A simple proposal would be to ask these and all public government employees if they would be willing to accept a benefit package that costs the same as the average benefit package that full-time private-sector employees earn according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics. If these government workers are under-compensated, they will obviously eagerly accept such a proposal!
