      . . . but it is useful to understand why "no" is the proper answer.

      As I cited on a radio call-in show the other day, all of this health-care reform nonsense violates Principle # 7 of sound government (read "The 5,000 Year Leap" for the reference):

      "The government should be the protector of equal rights, not the provider of equal things."

      Seriously, that's all the breakdown I need.  Unfortunately, there are entirely too many people out there who just don't get this basic constitutional principle.  (Thank you, government-run public school system.)  And for those people, you have to slap them a few times with a clue-by-four before they'll get it.
