I agree that, as a precinct delegate myself, I live for a convention such as the tentative one in August 2010 because we actually get to vote on something meaningful. August 2006 was a joke, I literally had to stick my finger down my throat in disgust of the propaganda on stage. 2008 was a little better. I personally liked Saul as chair, and believe he got a bad rap for things that were out of his control. But it was fun to lay the smack down on a couple of his pet projects:

      1. Carl Meyers for UM Regent. Dude was an MEA guy. I just loved voting for LaFond to stick it to the establishment.

      2. The Americans Solutions Platform. This was merely symbolic, no real teeth to it. But there was a crap load of liberal garbage in this thing about "preserving greenspace," and "awarding government prizes for innovative ideas on alternative energy." So, I know Saul was just trying to do his mentor Gingrich a favor, but man, it felt so good when we voted this crap down by a 2 to 1 margin.

It made the convention worth attending. If I didn't live 15 minutes from Novi, there's probably no way I waste my time showing up at the 2006 convention for what was a glorified "pep rally." I don't make money off of these delegate wars, like some others, but man do I enjoy participating in them.
