The Transplants down south are paying about $20/hour for labor, which equates to a total of about $43/hour with benefits and overhead. THat's the number that compares with the $73.50/hour that you cite. The wages are near identical when you factor what the union takes for dues; what drives up the cost are the overhead, which is sometimes state specific (like unemployment  and workman's comp insurance). Southern states do not charge as much for those insurances. That saves corporations lots and lots of money.
