Some recent numbers:
President Obama's job approval rating remains above 60%. (Real Clear Politics)
The percent of the Americans who feel the county is going in the wrong direction has decreased from 83% the week before the November 2008 election to 56% this week. (Real Clear Politics)
66% of Americans remain hopeful that President Obama can turn the economy around. (Wall Street Journal 3/3/09)
Over twice as many Americans trust Democrats (48%) over Republicans (20%) on economic recovery. (Wall Street Journal)
The favorability rating for the Republican Party is at an all time low of 26%. This is lower than in November 2008, November 2006 and even Watergate.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see the recent Republican rebuilding strategy isn't working out all that well. But, hey, Rush Limbaugh said the GOP needs to be the opposition party. And as the numbers above indicate, this is exactly the way to ensure they'll get lots of practice. A tea party to protest the results of recent democratic elections? That's just twisted.
