      It is obvious that the Macomb officials belief they are being "more responsive to their constituency."  There may be some truth to that, but the government must weigh the benefit of responsiveness to a small group that must otherwise function in an English-speaking society to the benefit of an efficient and cost-effective government for the vast majority of its residents.

      The irony is that Macomb would not hire a person who could not speak, read, or write English fluently.  Image a supervisor who starts getting daily reports in Arabic or Spanish from a subordinate who believes it is his right to do so.

      Common sense is not so common.
