I have, in admittedly a much smaller way, done most of what a candidate has to do in some fashion or another except put my name on a ballot.

And the candidates I've worked with would pass muster with the angry folks on here, or at least come pretty close.

Having said that, I agree with your comment, except that I'd expand it to say not only run for office, but get involved-- see how the system works before you attack it as not working.
