    I think you guys do not understand why Rev. Wright was picked for this year's annual dinner. Ticket sales were low this year due to the slowing and non-existent economy. The Detroit Branch NAACP is trying to keep money flowing and Rev. Wright is it.

    Rev. Wright was here a couple of months ago at Oak Grove AME in Detroit. He is no stranger here for that he has influenced many people such as Rev. Charles Adams, pastor of Hartford Memorial Baptist Church.

    The MAIN reason why I have never joined the Detroit Branch or Michigan State Conference NAACP is because they do not tackle issues that are critical in the Black community. We have a HIV/AIDS/STD problem in our community that they refuse to discuss. We have an educational pandemic that is out of control. We have am abortion problem that stems from the lack of family development and values. They never talk about these issues and never will. Not even the young people in the NAACP discuss these issues and they are mostly affected by them.

    I have been to the dinners in the past (including last year) and yes it is a liberal festival. However, we do have urban conservatives in the mix doing the same thing that I have been doing....educating people about how the NAACP has failed Detroit. So, don't write off the Detroit Branch because all they are doing is pushing young people away from the liberal mindset.
