    I think you need to re-read, or get some help in reading comprehension.  I also think you need some help with logical reasoning.

    In the meantime, let me spell it out for you.

    Your concept that laws restricting felons from running for office have not been passed because the politicians are mostly criminals anyways is abusrd.

    Further, expecting ethical standards has nothing to do with past criminal convictions.  Your past unethical behavior is not related to your current ethical status.

    I know I was spanked as a child for lying, taking things that do not belong to me, and mouthing back to my parents.  I'm sure many, many people are in the same boat as me.  If your logic holds true, that our requirement of "ethical standards" should extend to past behavior... then I suppose you're right.  Every American would be barred from holding public office.
