    And I repeat... (none / 0) (#2)

No one forced Schauer to make the "four years" pledge last fall and he's "not man enough to live up to it."
Why won't you hold him to the same standard you hold Hoekstra?  Could it be because you have no standard?  That you're only here to attack Republicans and defend democrats for no other reason than because they're Republicans or Democrats?

    Prove me wrong.  Condemn Schauer.

    "flaw" (none / 0) (#8)

The flaw in your reasoning is that private employers HAVE ALREADY SAVED MONEY with competitive bidding and any cuts you see are attempts to save even more money, in a state in an economic crisis where the company has to keep looking for those extra savings.  The private sector is simply a step ahead of the public in savings and you're not counting already realized savings -- you ignore that in this reasoning.

So there's the first time savings from going to a competitive bid.  I'll admit, then, that public bodies may have to go even further because of our fiscal crisis and actually make additional cuts (but they are already doing that -- either cutting wholesale jobs [and thereby benefits] as you see with janitorial bidding or just routine layoff, or they are renegotiating lower salaries which the MEA is willing to accept so it can keep MESSA profits whilst doinking its own members).

That's the dirty little not-so-secret secret of Senate Dems and flopping Cherry ---  they'll sacrifice your job or pay at the altar of a profit center for unions to keep lining their pockets in donations.

The point here is Cherry went for a ride down the "forked tongue" express.

    Novi is wrong...again. (none / 0) (#9)

Novi's assertions about SB 418 are 100% false. The bidding will be an apples to apple comparison for the districts.  The fact is that there is cheaper insurance pooling out there and the districts should have the opportunity to get it.  MESSA is a racket for the MEA.  Under this bill, not bene's will change, in fact, when the district saves money on their healthcare, more dollars go into the classroom.  That is the only dirty secret in all of this. The Senate Dems will not break from MESSA to deliver $$ to the classrooms.
