    If you say something to a crowd you are saying it to the public.  I'd give Cherry a break if he was saying it over a beer to someone in the bar ... its not a promise then, just a passing thought expressed in a venue that's not considered public in that way (although legally such a statement could be publicly overheard and become public).  I'd also give Cherry a break if he said it x years ago, and told us today he acknowledged his previous statement but had changed his mind for rational reason y.  Flopping and changing one's mind are different - although usually in politics one and the same.

    But if someone on the R-side flops, let me know so you can hold me to it.
