    argument, ND.  If Schauer told Senate Dems in a public statement that he'd stay in office, then it seems he's promising his constituents too.  First, while speaking to a public group, your words are interpreted by voters in your district and reported by media and other people to your voters (and if said on the "floor," reported by the official reporting mechanisms of the Senate). Second, "constituents" should be more than just voters in your district.  I believe they are everyone in the state -- you work for the people of Michigan as a Senator.  If you say one thing to one set of people and another thing to another set, you are still, as my friends call it, speaking with a forked tongue.

    Sounds like you're trying to weasel out of condenming your buddy, here, ND.  Just get it over with.  Condemn him and move on.
