      On the Dems side, they kill any new funding idea, and hold the line at FY2006 levels on most projects.  They abandon any new ideas, such as the MSP headquarters, jobs funds, increased funding for schools, etc.

      ON the GOP side, they agree to a TWO YEAR tax hike to cover the difference.  TWO YEARS.  At that point, it becomes an election issue that is bound to favor the GOP providing, of course, they can find a way to downsize government in 2 years.  Then again, given how the GOP let it bloat on their watch, I'm not optimistic (yes, I'm calling out the GOP leadership on that one!)

      Sen Schauer is running for Tim Walberg's Congress seat.  This would be a great gambit to hamstring Schauer when he's running for that office.
