De EEIM[edit]

Please show me images that according you are above the threshold of originality in their home countries, and tagging them as PD-textlogo.

If you don't stop, I will be forced to block your account.Don't not threaten me,no arguments. Let's talk.--EEIM (talk) 18:59, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

OK. Apologies for coming across so forceful, but it didn't look like you were responding to anyone's comments on your talk page, and that's very frustrating for other members of the community like me. In particular, you marked the seal of Juneau as text logo, when it is probably copyrightable. Are you familiar with COM:TOO (en español también)? Also, you uploaded a drawing of the coat of arms of Turbo and claimed it as your own, when it is obvious you just saved someone else's work from the internet. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:50, 2 January 2014 (UTC)

its hard to know, because one thinks ,seals ,flags and other ones ,are works into the public domain if are of a city, village and country due to are not companies. For example -This file is in the public domain, because It is a public University logo-.something says government is people to people.--EEIM (talk) 21:45, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Just because a seal or flag belongs to a public entity, this doesn't mean it's public domain. In fact, most countries treat them as copyrightable. Also, even if the emblem itself is old, each representation of an old seal can garner a copyright: see Commons:Coats of arms. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 15:44, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi! I'm not trying to harass you, just trying to clarify. Did you take all of the photographs in that montage? If not, can you list where you got them all from? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:04, 10 January 2014 (UTC)

Uploads by Montbarrey[edit]

Hi Magog the Ogre, I have been contacted by Montbarrey on my talk page concerning his uploads and will try to help him sort them out. I had previously mediated an edit war on fr:Famille Desbiez de Saint Juan. It is probable Montbarrey took himself these photographs and unlikely the paintings postdate 1900. As it seems my attempt to correct the description did not meet your agreement - and have been later messed up by Montbarrey - may I ask for your advice how to fix this ? Cheers, — Racconish Tk 07:13, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Please see my answer on my talk page. Thanks, — Racconish Tk 06:09, 17 January 2014 (UTC)

Hello[edit]

These images:

  • File:Cerro escudo.tif
  • File:Club Pilcomayo FBC.png
  • File:Club Primero de Marzo.png
  • File:Club Nacional (Asunción).tif
  • File:Cerro Porteño escudo.jpg
  • File:Deportivo Capiata.jpg
  • File:Sportivo Iteño.png

Son creaciones mìas a partir de imágenes públicas (⃕They are my own creations, from public images).

I do not know how to indicate what the copyrigth because it is a little confusing).

These are 100% mine:

  • File:Bandera club nacional py.png

Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 20:09, 15 January 2014 (UTC)

Consulta[edit]

Logo Orbitel azul.gif

Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:12, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

Copyright info for an internet picture[edit]

Hi Magog, I am interested in this picture for an article I am working on, but could not find any copyright info. Could you pls. help me with this? Thanks.

The image was originally taken by Corbis,[1] a for-profit image organization that is extremely unlikely to release the rights to the photograph. Unfortunately, that means you cannot upload it to any Wikimedia projects. Instead, you will need to search for a different image among the free media resources, find an image that is non-free and whose author might be willing to release the rights (see Commons:Email templates), or find a way to take the photograph on your own. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 00:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Magog.

Image deletion request[edit]

Hi, I noticed my face in one of the images here on Wikimedia Commons. I am not particularly photogenic and do not feel comfortable with such images posted of me online. I don't know the name of the image off the top of my head, but I remember seeing that it was released to public domain. Even though image is made public, shouldn't you be able to delete it, since I didn't see it on any other Wikis and I don't see what the problem with deleting it is. Let me know if you can and I will try to point you towards where the image is located at. --69.203.194.134 17:43, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

If the photograph was taken of you in private, then you can raise a deletion request and quote Commons:Photographs of identifiable people. If it was in a public place, then you can try a deletion request anyway, but you are unlikely to succeed. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:10, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

From what I recall it was on a private road. If it's not on any other Wikis, then does it need to stay up on Wikimedia Commons? --69.203.194.134 21:11, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

That's information you should bring up in the DR. It will help factory into whether it's kept or not. I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive answer, but the process isn't a definitive one; administrators handle it on a case-by-case basis. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 23:19, 18 January 2014 (UTC)

A23H's fire painting in 1967.jpg[edit]

I'm not sure I understand what you are trying to say regarding this image. The user (uploader) is not a third party. He is the artist, the person who photographed it, uploaded it, and released it under its current license. There was no third party involved. Are you saying that since I transferred it to Commons, it now requires a permission tag? Hazmat2 (talk) 04:47, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

No, it's because the content was created by an artist who has his own Wikipedia entry. We need to verify that the author and the uploader are the same person through OTRS. If the artist is in fact internet-savvy, then one of us could contact him through an external website. Do you see why I marked it? Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 04:55, 20 January 2014 (UTC)
I see. I thought I had seen a verification online before. Anyway, I emailed him to let him know he'll have to go through OTRS. We'll see what happens. Hazmat2 (talk) 05:49, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

OgreBot's old version filemover failure[edit]

Hi, I'm trying to move an old revision of a en.wiki file to Commons using your excellent "OgreBot's old version filemover" but I got this error.

Any ideas? Thanks again for all your work. PS. You may like to update the link to the tool on User:OgreBot Cube00 (talk) 11:00, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Hi Cube00. I'm as glad that someone is finding use of my work as you are to be able to use it. Face-smile.svg In any case, Mediawiki threw the following error when the bot tried to upload the image: This file did not pass file verification. This happens when Mediawiki originally allowed a corrupt image be uploaded, but now it has checks in place to stop such files from being uploaded. In other words, the only way to transfer it would be to download the image manually, fix whatever bugs are in it, and reupload. Either that, or there is a bug of some sort in Mediawiki's JPEG tester. If you want specifics, the VPT geeks would be a great place to start (they're always smarter than I am about such things). Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 22:46, 20 January 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply, sorry I included in the wrong talk page, the page with the outdated old version filemover is on en.wiki Thanks again. Cube00 (talk) 09:27, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

I completely forgot about that userpage, to be honest. I'll update. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 20:46, 21 January 2014 (UTC)

OgreBot2 marking as uncategorized even though there are categories[edit]

See here. Doesn't it check whether categories were added since the upload? Lupo 07:25, 23 January 2014 (UTC)

Uh oh. No idea why it's doing that. I'll research tonight. Magog the Ogre (talk) (contribs) 19:03, 23 January 2014 (UTC)
