Off the wall question. (none / 0) (#1)

Would anyone here object if their local church were to go to your home and take your vehicle from your own driveway because TPTB determined that you had more vehicles than you needed and others were more "deserving"?

Would anyone object if your neighbors were to move someone into your home because they felt that you have "too much" space and that others were "deserving"?

Would anyone object if those same neighbors were to go into your wallet and take money out of it each week because they felt that others were needy and "deserving" of the money that you had earned?

That been said, where does state government get off taking your hard earned income and give it to someone else because some bureaucrat felt that someone else was "deserving" of what you had gone out and worked to earn?

    Well?

Unless you dwell in the Dark Side, the answer here should be fairly obvious.

But that's not a good analogy, KG?

    Oh, really?

The state of Michigan GIVES very generous stipends for vehicles and upkeep.

The state of Michigan GIVES out vouchers for housing.

And in the story linked above, the state of Michigan takes money out of your wallet and GIVES it to parasites like this idiot from Lincoln Park.

I challenge anyone here to cite the relevant section of the US or Michigan Constitutions that delegate this authority for this generosity.

Let me know when you give up.

    Seriously, when is enough, enough?

You want to save Michigan a ton of money in future budgets?

Announce that ALL public assistance will be phased out after one year for new applicants.

Grandfather all current applicants, but require those remaining that they will be subject to random drug/alcohol testing. They must perform mandatory community service as part of receiving their benefit. That they must get an education, a HS Diploma or GED (if they don't already have one) and then a college degree or trade certification of some type.

I have absolutely have no problem donating to a worthwhile charity like The Salvation Army or even to the Letter Carrier Food Drive (May 12th in S.E. Michigan).

The problem I have is that this government mandated charity takes money out of my pocket that I can better give to someone obviously more needing of assistance.
