Has MI Governor Snyder Lost the Base? Yes. Does He Care? No. Can He Win?

The Republican base will not support Michigan Governor’s reelection bid because he has taken the state solidly to the Left.

He doesn’t care because he has forged a partnership with Big-Money Progressives and he believes that he can buy the election without the support of grassroots Constitutionalists who attend those “wacko” Tea Party and Liberty meetings.

But wait, what is this:

Vote for Gridlock — No More Nerd – No More One Party Rule

An organized campaign to bring the Republican grassroots back to the voting booth on November 4th with a clear strategy to

  • Support genuine Constitutional Republicans for the Michigan House and Senate (and other down-ballot offices)
  • Boycott the Nerd, thus creating Gridlock rather than slide further to the Left.

Is this just more “tin foil hat” fantasy or a pragmatic strategy that might just work?

You decide but first take a look at

The Case for Divided Government

Why didn’t Republican legislators uphold their own party platform and stand against a governor who embraced Obamacare?

Voting for divided government shows Republican leaders we have evolved into strategic voters who will no longer support anyone just because they have an (R) behind their name.

The Cost of One-Party Rule

The Cato Institute scored Snyder particularly poorly on spending, noting that he increased the general fund budget by a whopping 7.3% in 2013, and an estimated 7.8% in 2014. Further, increases in state spending have outpaced median household income in Michigan. According to the American Community Survey income has decreased by over 10% from 2007 to 2013. In contrast Lansing budgets have increased by 15%.

How to Fight for Republican Victory without Selling Your Soul

The Michigan Republican base has the power to decide the November 4th election. Will they stay home in despair, or march into the voting booth with a strategy to boycott Snyder (or maybe even vote for Democrat Mark Schauer) in order to Gridlock a state that is rapidly moving Left.

All votes for Snyder, if he wins, will be reported by his sycophants in the media as endorsements of his progressive policies. No one will ever report that there were people who voted for him because Golden Schauer was the greater of two evils. Vote carefully down ballot so your participation is counted.

The people in Snyder's circle did not see a drop in income or net worth so it appears logical to him to raise spending a piddling 15% and that we raise taxes to pay for road repair mindless of the fact that the vast majority of us have been losing financial ground.

With all due respect I would like to disagree. It has been said that the art
of Politics is doing the doable. I would like to ask Dick if he would have
preferred 4 more years of the memorable Jenny administration. Has Snyder
been perfect---no, but he has overseen the passage of "right to work". He was
instrumental in putting together the "grand bargain" for the Detroit bankruptcy
and without his intervention the deal to regionalize the Detroit water and Sewer
departments would not have occured. He was instrumental in the transfer of
Belle Isle to the state part system and he has made a major improvement in
    the repair of our roads.
Maybe you don't see his actions vis-a-vis Detroit in an approving light but
whether we like it or not all of South-East Michigan lives and dies with
    Detroit.
Please tell me what the resolution of these intractable problems would have
been under a Mark Shouer(?) administration.
If Snyder is foolish enough to want another 4 years I am more than happy
and eager to support him and I will urge everyone that I know that they
    should vote for him too.

Mr. Sorensen, I see you suffer from the same issue that Mr. 50cent suffers.

I'll probably vote for Snyder just to protect right to work. It's not far fetched to see both chambers of the legislature flip in the next few years if Rick Michigan loses and that would be the end of RTW.

After Snyder just gave damn near $1B towards bailing out MPSERS? JHFC! Snyder is the MEA's best friend.

Does everybody think with their ass, anymore?

      Mr. Sorenson,

I highly recommending reading this first, before continuing to praise Slick Rick's accomplishments.

The only difference between Snyder and Schauer regarding Detroit, is that Schauer would've turned a deaf ear to those who wanted to use the Michigan General Fund to keep the donations from long dead relatives at the DIA, instead of heading over to the auction block where they would've done the most good.

      And as for fixing roads?

I'm sorry, but Michigan already has enough revenue in its budget, collected at the gas pump, to bring Michigan's roads back up to par.

Additional taxes and fees are not necessary were he really "one tough nerd".

And I haven't even suggested things like de-funding the MEDC to generate even more revenue.
