Rogers To Move On

7 Term Congressman Is Moving On

rogersUS Congressman Mike Rogers is putting away his legislative pen.

Its apparently time to move on the the graveyard of political careers. The land of political punditry; broadcaster Nirvana. Talk Radio. The Detroit News Reports

The seven-term Howell Republican’s announcement comes less than a month before the filing deadline — and is the third major departure for the state’s congressional delegation following the decisions of Rep. John Dingell, D-Dearborn, and Sen. Carl Levin, D-Detroit, to retire. Last year, Rogers opted not to pursue Levin‘s seat, despite pressure from fellow Republicans, to focus on his job overseeing the Intelligence committee.

This of course presents yet another opportunity for a Michigan conservative pickup in the 8th congressional district. It also can go the other way if a decent candidate is NOT found by April 22, which is Michigan’s filing deadline for the Aug 5 primary.

This Is How They Are Born

Frank Foster Explains How Concern Over Common Core Is Just Silly.

Tea folk in the 107th district should know that Frank Foster no longer needs you.

He pretty much has said as much.  To him, you are searching for something that will make you “relevant.” (his words) That is your goal now since the ACA is the ‘law of the land’ and all.  And since you have lost THAT battle, common core is the way you want to flex your political muscle.

Oh, and he expects to be speaker of the house next legislative session.

A Short Treatise On Extremism

EOne of the most concerning comments a Constitutional Conservative Republican can hear from a fellow Republican is that they are “extreme” in their views.

The schism within the party should seem a remarkable thing if one was to examine what ‘extremism’ truly is.  Is there a defined line in the sand, or a point in which an accumulation of thoughts and philosophy render one susceptible to branding with a scarlet “E”? And like much of the politics playing out across the US, Michigan has developed what appears to be a Left-Right paradigm within a party presented as being on the right side of the political spectrum as long as can be remembered.

That, OR the window of tolerance for views once held as standards has been closed.

Extremism is subjective.  It is a moving target. And it is a relative condition that exists ONLY from the perspective of those who would label one with such hyperbole. This is unarguable.  If someone were to examine another person’s political views and agree with them, they would not likely make the claim that they too, are ‘extreme.’  Their philosophical centering at-rest is the foundation on which their opinions are formed, decisions are made, and with politics, support and votes are rendered.

GOP Party Unity – Fact or Fiction

We ask: "Wouldn't it be better for the party if David Trott were to actually challenge a Democrat?"

Trott_DavidbentivolioFabulously wealthy foreclosure attorney and generous friend of the GOP, David Trott, decides it’s time to fulfill his lifelong dream of becoming a United States Congressman.

He claims to be conservative, and Lord knows we need all we can get in Congress, so that should be a huge and appealing plus. But, instead of throwing his considerable assets and resources at a vulnerable and flaming liberal Congressman Sander Levin, who is older than dirt and an avowed leftist- Mr. Trott would instead prefer to challenge one our own, GOP freshman Congressman Kerry Bentivolio.

Granted, Trott does live in Bentivolio’s 11th Congressional District- but just barely.

Northern Michigan Shake Up

Challenging the Republican in the 107th District is Lee Chatfield, who decries incumbent Frank Foster’s votes to expand welfare, (medicaid expansion) Common Core, and an effort to amend the Elliott-Larsen [Civil Rights] Act.”

He might add to this; Cronyism and constituency rewards.

Below is a video of Lee Chatfield speaking in Petoskey. More information on his candidacy can be found at Izzy’s WatchDog Wire column.

The Only One

homer-constThe Michigan congressional delegation Republicans had the right idea with regard to Roll Call 61.

Except for Michigan’s very own captain courageous, Dave Camp.  Camp along with 27 other GOP congressional critters carried the water for Democrats and Barack Obama.

Maybe he was confused by the title of the bill that raised the debt ceiling?  Only in government, can a bill with the title:

To designate the air route traffic control center located in Nashua, New Hampshire, as the “Patricia Clark Boston Air Route Traffic Control Center”

be used to continue out of control spending by an unaccountable administration that needs to have its criminal leadership removed, not rewarded with more resources.

Going forward in Michigan’s 4ths congressional district, there IS another choice.

Dumb Dumb Dumb

More and more the left side reveals its mission to undercut the principles within the Republican Party

lennox-corpsNeedless to say, if I were to write a response that is in any way appropriate to this nonsense, it would almost assuredly result in a lawsuit.

A guy who has (as far as I know) never held a REAL private sector job, never owned a business, seems to travel the world on pixie dust, and is a persistent cancer within the Republican party has now hit the pancreas.  When Dennis Lennox says:

Instead of falling into the left’s trap, Republicans should go on the offensive with a bold manifesto focused on creating opportunities that not only raises the minimum wagean increase to $12 would impact 40 percent of working Americans — but reforms welfare and reduces taxes on main street innovators, entrepreneurs and job creators.

It has to be a trap itself.

Dave’s Not Going Anywhere

So-farAnd there appears to be no strong sentiment outside of the Democrat party, and a few belligerent GOP party thugs who are looking for him to do so.  A recent interview including this:

According to Agema, when fear and intimidation are applied, those would speak against the party’s status quo “immediately shrink back and say Boy, I’m going to be quiet, because if I say anything I’m going to get the same ridicule.”

Indeed.

Along with the article is a running poll asking if Dave should step down, or stick it out.

Not surprisingly, as of my own vote in support, the results are near unanimous.

Winning Our Future

By now, migrating readers of sunsetting RightMichigan are probably familiar with the Michigan Republican Party’s obsession with destroying Conservatives within their “all inclusive” endeavors.

It’s unfortunate and disappointingly true, that the Left’s agenda has crept deeply into the Grand Old Party. Instead of explaining WHY a large Welfare State is not healthy for the individual as well as their families, some Republican legislators are following the pied piper Nerd of Ann Arbor and are growing it. Instead of Reminding us of the Party’s stated mission that high taxes are destructive to economies, some Republican lawmakers wish to fiddle with drastic increases in Use Taxes instead of correcting poor existing allocations. Instead of ‘True love’ as an answer to gross mismanagement for decades, Detroit leadership’s irresponsible behavior would instead be rewarded by a Republican Governor who pretends a bailout of hundreds of millions of dollars is .. well .. somehow not a bailout. The same Republican governor who advocated transparency in his campaign, but vetoed a 100% UNANIMOUS bill demanding transparency; a condition that could be effortlessly over ridden, yet forgotten by Republican and Democratic leadership in both houses.

Add to this, Republican Party leadership who in the face of all this remained mute, leading us to believe there was no problem? That Republican Principles as stated, were doing just fine. That no diametric anomaly was present, and all was well?
