To give it it must be taken.  If not from those who pay for it, then from those who must provide for it.

And before you try and compare the police or firemen, understand that you or I can still protect ourselves with a gun or a bucket of water, with or without cops or firefighters.  But medical care is ruled out of our reach except under the conditions allowed by government?  Even schooling can be contracted to other agencies.
