Now it’s $51,000,000 to $70,000,000 for a “Better View of the Capitol”?

Hmmm, now where have we seen these money grab pay-to-play schemes before? Oh! That’s right, Wayne County. And that worked out just swell, yes?

Marshal_Arlan_Randy_Ficano_ShawarmaI’ve long said that Ross Jones, is the only reporter in Michigan, worth following. Unfortunately, there’s a new Senate Marshal in Lansing (heavy on the marsh part), and he goes by the nickname of, Sen. Arlan Randy Ficano.

With obscene waste above nonchalantly endorsed by Boji’s Engler era chatterbox, and the $54B budget Snyder/Calley presented, are folks beginning to understand why his SOTS “Vote Yes” propaganda completely ignored by “Chief election Officer” Ruth Johnson, is little more than a Republican Majority instituted Jizya tax?

I, for one, sure as Hell hope so.

Ps. for those who may be unaware, the same folks involved with the Boji building shenanigans are also behind another $88,000,000 unnecessary project in, Lansing.

Where is the money for the capitol visitor center coming from? The budget? Private funds? Public financing? I believe when the capitol was restored 25 years ago it was done with private funds. I don't have a problem with a restoration like this depending upon where the money comes from.

I have a problem when our tax dollars are used to lobby for such unnecessary crap (take note of who is the Vice-Chair of the MSCC). Seen the debt piling up lately, Jack?

Better yet, I have an even bigger problem when taxpayer's employees are lobbying against our Rights (see, Bouchards undertoad page 2, and anti-RTKABA MSP lobbyist, firearm registry toad, which solves as much as the MSP investigating themselves when threatening to kill unidentified motorists: see, "to be fit for patrol"). LEO works for the Ruling Class who sign their collective bargained union contracts. LEO's sworn Oath, and allegiance is to politician masters, and with protecting their *brotherhood*. They do not work for American citizens. They fleece 'em.

You should know better, Jack. I hope Wisconsin, is treating you well.

      "Capitol Visitor Center"

      This is a joke, right?

I've chaperoned more than a few school field trips up to Lansing.

The room they are currently using just to the left when you walk in has been more than adequate for the task at hand every time that I was there. It also gives our employees a reason to brush up on the local history.

That been said, unless they are expecting a massive influx of visitors to the state capitol (aside from school field trips has anyone else seen a huge rush of tourists wanting to get in), I'm failing to see any need for this expenditure.

And if they are so concerned about returning the state capitol building back to its "original design" by removing the parking lot out back...just get rid of it and be done with it.

It's only used by the politicians anyway.

More than a few members of the 98th legislature are a little flabby in the mid-section. They can use the exercise by walking a few blocks from the adjacent parking structures to their job.

If the visitors (read: the politicians Boss') can walk the distance, I'm failing to see why the politicians are unable (unwilling) to.

They can also nix the idea of "increased security".

It's a public building. They are public servants.

It's flat-out insulting to have people go through prisoner processing in order to see an elected official at work.

Power corrupts. It happens over and over, even in Lansing. I've seen good people become jaded and corrupted and too many of them had their personal lives screwed up. all for a little power.

Jack.. Gotta tell you, I miss having you there live blogging the insanity.

Right now we have some powerful folk (that were a part of your mission I might add) putting the system to a test. Crossing fingers they are able to be effective enough to build momentum for a few more years.
