Never Let A Crisis Go To Waste

Flint Lead Remediation Effort Morphs Into An Attack On Hunting, Target Shooting, Fishing, And Even Churches

brian-calley

Michigan’s elites have clearly not absorbed the lesson of November 8th, yet.

The Michigan’s Child Lead Poisoning Elimination Board issued their final report last week. Chairman Brian Calley and his team of 14 politicians experts were empanelled by Executive Order 2016-09 to demonstrate that Governor Snyder actually cared about the Flint children exposed to lead, by his previously empanelled team of professional incompetents experts. The CLPEB’s recommendations are a liberal wish list of expensive dreams mostly unrelated to the underlying cause of the Flint water fiasco: government incompetence.

But the CLPEB did put forth the effort to launch an attack on hunting, target shooting, sport fishing, and even religion. Recommended on page 22 of their final report:

Prohibit lead in fishing tackle, establish a fishing tackle trade-in program to encourage consumers and industries to transition away from lead-based tackle, and encourage further study of lead in fishing tackle.

Establish regulations to protect against lead exposures through the use of firearms by:

o Establishing an ammunition trade-in program.
o Establishing a wild game meat testing program for donated products.
o Developing a health education program and public education materials for lead exposures in hunting and wild game consumption.

Recommended on page 26 of their final report:

In post-1978 homes, dust, soil, and water testing should be conducted at the time of transfer of the property or upon the occurrence of some other reliable event, or whenever there are indications of a high-risk activity, such as stained-glass window work or ammunition reloading, being done in the home.

Here we have the elites punishing their subjects for the mistakes of the elites. Michigan government at its finest.

The CLPEB page 26 recommendation is certain to roil the real estate market. The CLPEB is clearly angling to add disclosures of ammunition possession, ammunition reloading, fishing sinker possession, and stained glass window work to The Lead Disclosure Rule of the Residential Lead-Based Paint Hazard Reduction Act of 1992. A statewide registry of houses with lead ‘hazards’? An opportunity to financially punish the enemies of the elites, at little cost to the State of Michigan. Make their houses worthless.

rifle-target-shootingThere is exactly zero evidence in the CLPEB report of child lead exposure (or poisoning) being caused by wild game meat, fishing sinkers, ammunition, ammunition reloading, or stained glass windows in churches. Note that they didn’t harp on politically correct uses of lead, such as X-ray shielding in the medical community. Hospitals, dental offices, and doctors’ offices are simply filthy with lead. Lead-acid car batteries, sailboat ballasts, and SCUBA diving weights didn’t get mentioned either.  These uses of lead far outstrip stained glass windows in homes and churches. So you know this was a PC attack on the pastimes and practices of the great unwashed.

periodic-table-image-pb-1The dirty little secret here is that metallic lead is actually not much of a health hazard. Water soluble lead compounds, specifically carbonates, are the health hazard. Generally speaking, you cannot be poisoned by a specie which is not soluble in water or hydrochloric acid (stomach acid). Metallic lead isn’t.

kid-fishing-2Children get lead poisoned by idiots government employees experimenting with municipal water supplies. Children get lead poisoned by eating lead paint chips when their mothers trade SNAP benefits for drug money. Children get lead poisoned when they play in dirt contaminated by automobile exhaust in wasteland neighborhoods without landscaping. Children do not get lead poisoned by wild game meat, fishing sinkers, ammunition, ammunition reloading, or stained glass windows in churches.

Ammunition can cause lead poisoning – the slow kind, as opposed to the more prevalent traumatic kind – when firearms are shot in poorly ventilated, enclosed spaces. Not when hunting or target shooting outdoors.  Not when reloading.  The actual lead vector when shooting is the combustion product of lead styphnate in the cartridge priming composition, not the projectiles. But the elites on the CLPEB board are clearly targeting lead-containing bullets. They want to outlaw most ammunition, not diminish lead poisoning.

Michigan [MCL 750-224c] and Federal law [18 U.S.C. § 921(a)(17)(B)] actually prohibit the use of the most economic, technically suitable, alternative to lead in most firearms projectiles: steel. Why we went through the M855 ‘green tip’ rifle ammunition fight a year ago. That ban affects a lot of hugely popular hunting rifle cartridges, such as .223 Remington and .308 Winchester. The M855 fight is fresh enough in everyone’s memory so you know that the CLPEB ammunition recommendation is no mere bungle. The great unwashed are indeed being deliberately punished by Michigan’s elites.

Michigan’s Child Lead Poisoning Elimination Board was mostly an attempt at political cover by the Snyder Administration. Executed in Governor Snyder’s usual grand style: a media whitewashed bungle.  Note that Flint water lead levels still exceed EPA action level in the latest round of testing, but by how much?  There is a lot of media gate keeping going on in Michigan.  Sadly, Wikileaks didn’t cover the Michigan media. Hopefully, this devious attack on hunting, target shooting, fishing, and churches by the CLPEB is going to fail.

When will they learn? 2018 cannot come soon enough.

Leave it to the Nerd and Brian Calley to make sure Cuckservatism, Inc., is alive and well in the Mitten state. Seriously, has anyone bothered to look into the background of the "Dr." that chaired three of the main workgroups? Would you believe György (((Schwartz))) older brother Paul, randomly handpicking an Egyptian Muslim's son: https://www.pdsoros.org/meet-the-fellows/abdul-elsayed

Howza 'bout rapist Bill Clinton being on the same stage promoting Muslim diversity (All Hail Diversity!): https://youtu.be/MuKdMYh7Xxo

Worried about churches' stained glass windows? Ask yourself, what the hell is "is an independent liberal arts college and a Catholic institution of higher learning" doing appointing his Muslim stepmother to Vice President: https://www.marygrove.edu/home/news/recent-news/160-press-releases/1286-dr-jacqueline-el-sayed-named-vice-president-for-academic-affairs-at-marygrove-college.html

Just how deep does the Lansing rabbit hole go? Would you believe his Muslim stepmother gave "the opening invocation on the Michigan House Floor [pictured with Speaker, Cuck Bolger] to open up the State House session": https://muslimsinmotion.wordpress.com/2011/05/02/bloomfield-hills-school-board-trustee-breaks-barriers/

Bottom line, 10x25MM, you're right. Brian Calley and Michigan cucks in Lansing, haven't learned a goddamn thing from November 8th. They're just like the fake media- all lies and bullshit all the time.

You can't (no public bid allowed) pry prime real estate from the public's hands without painting a false narrative wrapped in every no-vote-of-the-people-required generational crippling tax scheme imaginable:

"..MEDC staff recommends policy documents, school tax capture work plans, school tax capture amendments and amendments to SBT/MBT brownfield credits to the MSF for consideration. The MEDC manages all work plans and SBT/ MBT brownfield credits approved by the board, including assuring reporting obligations and compliance.
Eligible program uses under TIF include:
    • Demolition
    • Lead and asbestos abatement.."

Michigan conservatives have long been warned since the very beginning of this "negotiated crisis" (solution) that this "Kubaya" lame duck would soon produce more perverted across-aisle political cooperation than has been witnessed here in Michigan since the "New Deal" massive expansion of Michigan government during the Romney administration.

Instead, 'conservatives' were encouraged to loudly attack any fellow patriot pointing out that Michigan Democrats were (cough) "shockingly" passing Republican birthed legislation on near unanimous votes ever since Snyder (and the balance of our legislature) 'finally' came clean on kids being poisoned without a single word said by anybody previous (including 'shocked' and supposed 'politically in the know' Tea Partiers).

"Never let a crisis go to waste" competed with "there is (really) nothing to see here" and "shoot any messenger" for the most descriptive slogans in 2016 Michigan politics this side of "stay off the (Capital) lawn" and "Remember Right To Work" in terms of blatant intimidation.

"Lead" is a powerful material (and political weapon) indeed.

Great piece (as usual) by the way, 10x25.
The problem with WikiLeaks ever helping us with the panic-ridden run-up to Snyder's 'sudden discovery' is that those documents would most certainly ensnare more of those in the Republican Party (as we all well know living here) than 'good Republicans' would ever wish.

The fact that this (inter)national issue was intentionally covered up by BOTH sides (TeaPartiers as well) and transformed in to a conspicuously absent "non-issue" in the most important election ever (see all outrage over MichiganCommonCore purposely buried even with its absolutely worst component 'ever' headed for a vote DURING same) is the *real* story here for our lead-filled children's history books.

No-Vote-of-the-People-Required Pension Obligation Bond legislation during the exact same election period in 2012 was strategized no differently. That landmark legislation involved just as many needed players spanning the political spectrum to be (similarly and literally) 'bought off' or threatened *when it mattered most* both before and immediately following just as historic a vote. Remember, these sleaze bags were strategizing to selfishly sneak "health care" in to statewide POBs at the exact same time that they were turning their backs on little kids drinking tainted water.

Will it be the poisoning of our children, the blatant selling of their minds through 'protective' legislation or the theft of their state and local treasures which cause them to revolt so vehemently that no Michigan retiree or politico will possibly escape what has been intentionally hoisted upon their shoulders in the past 4 years alone(?).

We can only hope that this outrage consumes every single one of us as we ALL sit idly by knowing full well what we do.

      "Part Time Legislature, anyone?"

Whoa!...hold on there...grassroots Tea Partiers haven't held on long enough (or have they) to provide the last agreed upon total silence needed to ram through even more legislation involving no-vote-of-the-people-required pension obligation bonds for state workers, teachers, etc. costing our children billions more.
Shouldn't we wait until Michigan 'conservatives' stand silently by AGAIN as the #1 most contentious issue in this state right now (unfunded yet not legally required 'health care' pensions)...is added to their stolen future as was just unbelievably done (locally) without so much as a 'peep' from anyone?

A "part-time legislature" so that our kids have even LESS of a chance to (immediately) claw back what is being stolen at this very moment from their future ability to live a life not even close to their parents due to conservative approved generational theft?

Yeah...that sounds about right (considering the circumstances).

Imagine 10,000+ people with nothing else better to do after Thanksgiving and most off work on a long holiday weekend...

...showing up (angrily) in Lansing with the following pressing/topical issues ***MORE than willing to be covered by the statewide (not to mention nationwide) press***..

...SO THAT HISTORY MAY BE ALTERED GIVEN THE BEST TIMING POSSIBLE ON THE SLOWEST NEWS DAYS OF THE YEAR:

We ALL don't like the appointment of DeVos (gee, weren't 26,000 teachers 'alone' willing to skip work in 2012 when RTW was inexcusably inserted at the last second...by who?) while historically bad MIND MINING legislation is rammed down our throats which she and most every other Republican refuses to oppose...

We don't like our kids being poisoned and our leaders pretending not to know about it until they all announce one big "oh my!" on the same day...

We don't like roadside DNA thievery due to it's-none-of-your-#%*!-business allergies or any other reason surrounding the fact that we just simply "look funny"...

We don't like no-vote-of-the-people-required anything (including pension bonding)...

We don't like 'lame duck' anything as our two political parties 'go dark' at that very moment in terms of transparency and access.

I have purposely left out dozens of other bi-partisan issues grossly affecting our immediate future solvable through immediate action when given the perfect opportunity to do so with no excuses available whatsoever...yet we all get the picture.

Will God someday paint us the exact same scenario as he shows us stuffing our faces today and lying around afterwards?
Or will he simply play us a 'video' of what the rest of the world has been viewing since our grandchildren graduated high school or college outlining *in the most vividest of manners* their entire lives and how the rest of the world has been NEGATIVELY viewing same *at every turn* due to OUR laziness?

    I sure hope not.

May God temper our "thanks" today with what we outright refuse to give back for the sake of our own children and (sadly) our own selfish reasoning.

A Solution for the Flint Water Crisis

The Flint water crisis has initiated a national debate on the capability of municipalities to ensure clean and safe water for its residents. The crises has become the proverbial political football, where ascertaining blame for incompetence and negligence is the focus of discussion. The focus has been on the Governor’s emails and who knew what and when in the government agencies responsible for monitoring Flint’s water quality. Lansing’s supervision to resolve Flint’s financial mismanagement has been the subject of many “but for” excuses. All have become the primary focus in the news and web sites like Michigan Capitol Confidential and Bridge Magazine. What is absent from the discussion is a long term practical solution other than how to convince the guardians of the Federal Government’s purse to bail out Flint with taxpayer dollars.

The maintenance of municipal water and sewer infrastructure presents the same financial funding issues that are associated with the maintenance of Michigan roads and bridges. The legislative solution in Lansing is to levy taxes on somebody or something. If it can be bought, sold or used Lansing will tax it! If it lives or breathes, tax it! This attitude reflects the failure of Lansing governance, irrespective of political affiliation, to embrace creative solutions and think outside the box known as taxation.

Permit me to again present the idea of Public Private Partnerships (PPP’s) that I raised during the road funding debate. Legislation authorizing the funding for roads, bridges and other infrastructure maintenance has been passed in twenty-four states except Michigan. Michigan’s House Bill 4961 in 2009 authorizing the use of PPP’s failed. WHY?

Communities challenged with aging water and wastewater infrastructure, increasingly complex regulatory requirements and budgetary constraints require proven alternative solutions other than taxation or bail outs from Washington. Many states and municipalities have entered into Water-Waste Water Utility Public Private Partnerships.
The American Legislative Exchange Council has a draft proposal available for state legislatures to consider to authorize PPP’s within their states. The District of Columbia; Chicago Heights, Illinois; Edison and Bayonne, New Jersey, and Seattle, Washington are a few municipalities that have implemented PPP’s to manage their water and waste water treatment facilities. In short proven and tested models and solutions are available.

What’s the solution? We the people must challenge our elected representatives to enter the Twenty-first Century of political governance. They must begin thinking outside the box of taxation and seeking bail outs from the Federal Government. Many states, like Michigan, are looking to the Federal Government for solutions for health care, education, road funding and now water treatment facilities. Michigan is becoming a dependent of the Federal Government and thereby relinquishing its sovereignty guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution.

Lansing is always focused on more funding for education failures, picking winners and losers in the private sector (mostly losers), and use of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation as a slush fund for whatever political party holds office. It is time for a change! Just saying folks! Oh by the way...how about those sanctuary cities of Detroit and Ann Arbor? Where are Snyder's minions??? Hiding under their desks? Where else!

    Jim,

If we don't do the heavy lifting (first) of draining the swamp in any meaningful manner through political education, transparency and (heaven forbid) public protest; I see little hope of simply switching over to private control or heaven forbid ownership administered often by non-accountable representation ("Authorities", etc.).

I find it very hard to speak of policy or the Xanadu that it would create when we can't even manage to walk and chew gum in terms of discussing BAD legislation currently in the pipe...or even agree that term limiting anyone miraculously found to create or defend 'good' legislation for any term that we are willing to support them is a bad idea.

It is much easier to simply sell the farm than it is to do the hard *sacrificial* work that is needed to pass it down. We are witnessing this already with bipartisan under-the-radar-in-plain-sight efforts to turn control over of our largest cities to those with no oversight or responsibility to govern at the will of the people whatsoever.

Republicans and 'conservatives' (often over 50 and having 'checked out' politically anyways) refusing to even so much as discuss the above as parallel generation crushing legislation is cemented at lightning speed is a pretty good indication that handing them over ownership for sale or profit to anything that we all own 'now' is just a bad idea.

When you find folks running away from shared sacrifice and immediate transparency as the only solution to corruption in a free society???...one can be assured that even more corrupt schemes are well on their way to solve everything with even less oversight.
