A history lesson is obviously in order.

Just in case you’ve missed this, President Trump signed an executive order temporarily banning immigrants from certain nations with ties to islamic terrorism from entering the United States.

As usual, the pundits are working feverishly to spin this, with Team “d” demonstration again why they got their backsides handed to them last November.

Sadly, some Michigan Representative, like Rep. Justin Amash, either have no problems with seeing dead Americans or they require a remedial lesson in recent US History.

In Rep. Amash’s case, I’m hoping that it is the latter.

{More below the fold}

Yesterday evening, Rep. Amash released this on his Facebook page:

Like President Obama’s executive actions on immigration, President Trump’s executive order overreaches and undermines our constitutional system. It’s not lawful to ban immigrants on the basis of nationality. If the president wants to change immigration law, he must work with Congress.

The president’s denial of entry to lawful permanent residents of the United States (green card holders) is particularly troubling. Green card holders live in the United States as our neighbors and serve in our Armed Forces. They deserve better.

I agree with the president that we must do much more to properly vet refugees, but a blanket ban represents an extreme approach not consistent with our nation’s values. While the executive order allows the admittance of immigrants, nonimmigrants, and refugees “on a case-by-case basis,” arbitrariness would violate the Rule of Law.

Ultimately, the executive order appears to be more about politics than safety. If the concern is radicalism and terrorism, then what about Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and others?

Finally, we can’t effectively fight homegrown Islamic radicalism by perpetuating the “us vs. them” mindset that terrorists use to recruit. We must ensure that the United States remains dedicated to the Constitution, the Rule of Law, and liberty. It can’t be stated strongly enough that capitalism creates prosperity and improves assimilation into society.”

First off, let me correct the young Representative in that we have been banning immigrants on the basis of nationality since the founding of the republic.

From the Aliens Enemies Act to the REAL ID Act, this is something that has been done time and time again.

As a matter of fact, the former example above is where President Trump has the authority to do what he did.

So to come out and issue a blanket statement that this is something that we cannot do, only illustrated an appalling ignorance regarding American History.

Rep. Amash goes on about how vetting is important, but outright banning is just going too far.

Well, given the fact that the FBI Director came out just last year stating that we have no idea whom were letting in because we have nothing to work with (and remember many of those people he was concerned about are now already here), what other realistic option is there?

Does. Rep. Amash want them to pinky-swear that they won’t kill anyone?

Again, I can excuse the ignorance of youth for only so long. But when it’s starting to come from a little closer to home, it’s hard not to take notice. Gov. Snyder’s pick to head the Michigan Civil Rights Department, Agustin V. Arbulu, had this to say regarding President Trump’s ban in The Detroit News:

“When government treats entire groups of people based on its worst elements, it not only harms other members of the group, it hurts us all.

It is particularly damaging in times like now, when we must work to mend our divisions, not multiply them. Relying on stereotypes instead of facts will always foster unintended consequences, like bias, hate and prejudice. It strengthens our enemies and drives away our friends.”

To address his argument, at this point in my post, I was going to post some images from places you might have heard of.

Orlando.

Dallas.

Boston.

San Bernadino.

Fort Hood.

New York City.

No, they were not going to be the cheerful, touristy images that you might have seen here and there.

There are images that I’ve pulled from media pool websites that include images that look like they were taken from a George Romero or Sam Raimi film. I’m not going to go into graphic detail on the contents (I want to keep Right Michigan SFW, after all), but just leave it at the fact that the aftermath of the few islamic terrorist attacks I’ve mentioned above are not as sterile and antiseptic as those in the MSM would like you to believe.

They can be very disturbing.

These were images of people who might have been your friends or family.

Many of those images are hard to discern what it is you are looking at exactly.

Let me leave it at that.

But there is one take-away that I can leave to readers of this post, one that is SFW, and hopefully can drive the point home on why a ban on immigrants on terrorists countries is needed.

If any other member of the Republican Party on either the state or national level require a reminder on why we need a ban on “refuges”  from predominantly Islamic countries, I cannot think of a better argument that what you’ve seen above.

Never ever mistake that Justin Amash is Palesimian first, and everything else is just an afterthought.
