The Tea Party, Conservatism, and the Constitution

God, Country, Freedom and Liberty

With the flurry of “tax increases” that have been levied upon the taxpaying citizens of Michigan at the hands of the Republican controlled legislature in Lansing since gaining power and control with the help of the Tea Party in 2010 is unconscionable.Boston TeaParty Small

The Tea Party movement is named, of course, for the famous event in late 1773 when cases of tea were dumped unceremoniously into the Boston harbor. The Boston Tea Party was a carefully orchestrated strike against a commodity that was being taxed and sold by a monopoly provider the British East India Tea Company. The tea the Sons of Liberty dumped into Boston Harbor was in fact from China.

The link below is an excellent read for those Tea Party Conservative Patriots of Freedom and Liberty who strongly believe in a Constitutional government and a return to those principles that have lost their way in today’s tyrannical government. The following is adapted from a speech delivered by Charles R. Kesler on October 21, 2013, at Hillsdale College’s Allan P. Kirby, Jr. Center for Constitutional Studies and Citizenship in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the AWC Family Foundation Lecture Series.

Lon Johnson and Julianna Smoot sez…

Release the Kraken

Dingell also stressed to reporters that she has different views than her husband.

“I’ve learned a lot from John Dingell. Like any married couple, we don’t’ agree on everything and as we go down the road there may be some differences,” she said. “I’m not going to try to be John Dingell. I’m going to be Debbie Dingell.”

Translation: Not equipped with old wrinkly shriveled-up balls basting in soiled Depends that took a long time to control the People.

One difference between the couple is their position on gun control; John Dingell is a lifelong supporter of the right to bear arms, while Debbie Dingell has spoken out against it.

“That is an issue that we do not agree on,” she said. “We come from very different perspectives.”

But, I repeat myself. So, in essence, ‘ol Queen Debbie will be yet another “Me Next” Progressive in the long list of Constitution loathing Progressives in D.C. Well, I reckon all that’s left now is for Denise Ilitch and Geoffrey Fieger to throw Queen Debbie a “pizza party” too.

Woof!

A Friday Moment of Trevor’s Sanity

Making this Loudon clear for y’all.

Dollar gasoline?!?! Oh, shut up and just take my money! Yes, I know, tough break for all the Enviroloons out there.

The man is smart. He’s placing a cost on being the usual pandering to The Left cast of “chosen” GOP candidates. About damn time Conservatives make that happen.

And The Carnage Continues

Are we at all surprised?

Yesterday Local TV 7&4 had a story on the lay off of 43 employees, and the director had only alluded to the reaosns why.  Today the report is much clearer and more direct.  Add to the layoffs a little North of where I am at is the Munson health system which will be facing significant reductions in revenues to the tune of $15 Million averaged EACH YEAR over the next ten years.

Bravo.

Nurse Ratched* Saith Your Children Belong to Us

UPDATE: as you can see, State Rep. Margaret O’Brien has pulled her nanny state propaganda video from the Michigan House GOP YouTube account.

JHFC! Is there anything these authoritarian Nanny Government types don’t want control over?

As an aside to all the 18 to 21-year-old voters out there stuck with your Zero Tolerance driver license situation – especially when they’re now regulating rope – why you haven’t voted out the mentality above is way beyond my comprehension.

Codifying the Legality of Open Carry in Michigan

Michigan Open Carry has been involved in getting HB 5091 and 5092 pushed through.

Basically, these two pieces of legislation further define what constitutes brandishing, a definition that more clearly shows that open carry is not brandishing.

We also pushed forward some substitutions to make things even better:
http://rrfaae.com/dump/MOC/H03891’13%20(H-1).pdf (for 5091)
http://rrfaae.com/dump/MOC/H03299’13%20Star%20(H-1).pdf (for 5092)

These substitutions sailed through committee. Vote to report will most likely be next week.

Appreciation goes to Rep. Joel Johnson and Rep. Brandon Dillon for moving these through.

Hell Just Froze Over

Color this a rare occasion but, I’m onboard with Ginsburg, Kagan, and Sotomayor.

WASHINGTON — Police officers may enter and search a home without a warrant as long as one occupant consents, even if another resident has previously objected, the Supreme Court ruled Tuesday in a Los Angeles case.

The 6-3 ruling, triggered by a Los Angeles Police Department arrest in 2009, gives authorities more leeway to search homes without obtaining a warrant, even when there is no emergency.

The majority, led by Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr., said police need not take the time to get a magistrate’s approval before entering a home in such cases. But dissenters, led by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, warned that the decision would erode protections against warrantless home searches. The court had previously held that such protections were at the “very core” of the 4th Amendment and its ban on unreasonable searches and seizures.

REST

At least Texas and Indiana provide remedy.

China Benefits from Michigan Taxpayers with our Lansing Legislator’s Help

Snyder-China_GuvOfficeTaxpayers Lose Again, Fisker Automotive Sold to China’s Wanxiang
Wanxiang bought Fisker’s battery supplier, A123 Systems LLC, last year through a similar bankruptcy sale. A123 and Fisker were both recipients of a controversial U.S. Department of Energy loan program meant to support clean energy technology. Michigan taxpayers also suffered dearly when the quasi UN-elected MEDC give away tax dollars to A123 Systems in taxpayer funded subsidies.

Baker Farm Still Standing

Michigan farm family has had to endure an out of control bureaucratic nightmare

pighuntMark Baker being interviewed a couple of days ago by the Alex Jones folks.

There is a great point made towards the end of the Mark Baker interview here. The Baker family has had to endure an incredible pressure brought on by an out of control Lansing bureaucracy. While other farmers have folded, allowing the state to destroy their property, the Bakers have remained firmly resolved that they are protected by the US Constitution.

They are correct. (Interview/segment starts at about 14:40)

We applaud and pray for the Bakers as they courageously face an ever increasing Statist government.

Gosh, I Wonder What They Are up To?

From the Good-Reason-To-Go-Part-Time Department.

SB 0815 introduced yesterday by BIEDA and HOPGOOD to change the Michigan Campaign Finance Act.  Addtions include adding:

Committee includes a political organization recognized by the internal revenue service under 26 USC 527 that has an officer, director, board member, or trustee who is a resident of this state.

To the committee identification language.  Also adding:

     (k) For a candidate committee of a candidate who controls or directs a political organization recognized by the internal revenue service under 26 USC 527, all donors, contributions, and expenditures of that political organization. A candidate controls or directs a political organization if any director, officer, or board member of the political organization is employed by or serves as an agent to the candidate, as determined by the totality of the circumstances.

Nothing else changes
